There are quite a few tutorials and such out there. Here's some instructions for a cardboard tank. But I might just scrap the tank and be my inkling while in Inkopolis. If I had more money, I was thinking of buying a really wide pvc pipe and caps, then adding on top of that and just painting it all. I've seen others cut out all the shapes from cardboard and glue them together to build the tank caps. For the caps, I started cutting out pieces of insulation foam, however I am a terrible sculptor. I rolled it up, but I can't get it to keep a round cylinder shape. I started to make one using a think plastic sheet that came from an old, cheap poster frame. That's going to be the cheapest/easiest way. If you have something like a Reuse store in town, you might get lucky and find some scrap pvc pipe at a discount, but it's unlikely.įor the shorts, just buy black athletic shorts and sew on a strip of fabric. Most of it can be made by going to your local hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc) and buying the right length of PVC pipe and the right elbows and connectors. I plan on either attaching them to the hat or using elastic to put them over my real ears. Depending on how big you want to make the tentacles, you should be able to find fabric there at a discount.Īs for the ears, I just cut out some rounded triangles from some craft foam I had. I made one just this week with a sewing machine.Ĭheck your local craft store for a remnants section.
Inkling cosplay how to#
Do you have access to a sewing machine, or know how to hand sew? I have a friend with no sewing experience who managed to hand sew a boy inkling hat for himself. You can easily make a fleece hat with tentacles attached. Where is a good place to buy cheap contacts?įirst.

What would be good to use for the ink tank/backpack if I did make it?

Is there a good place to get a pair of black shorts with just thin turquoise stripes on the sides? If not, where's a good place to get cheap black shorts? What's the cheapest way to go about creating this? I plan on making the Paint Roller weapon. What's the best way to make the ear pieces? I've looked far and wide and can't find anything about these. How should I go about making the tentacles and where is the best place to buy the materials? (I've seen vinyl and spandex be recommended, but I don't know the costs) My main questions are: -Where is a good place to buy the wig? I AM on a relatively small budget, so cheap but good looking is ideal. I know the key parts are: -Wig -Tentacles -Ear Pieces -Icon T-Shirt -Shorts -Colorful Sneakers -Weapon -Ink tank + backpack I also will be using black sneakers w/blue laces. It will be in the Turquoise/bright blue color though! Not orange. I've been trying to gather information on what all I need for a Splatoon Inkling cosplay. So, I'm fairly new to cosplay and such, but I'm thinking about going to my first con here soon and I wanted to do something a bit simple, but also really fun.
